No longer the country to come to?

Today Val Verde County Judge ruled that ALL of the remaining Haitian migrants at the Del Rio Texas camp are to be removed. He has given authorities until the end of the day. Now comes the real circus. Like the show, “America’s Got Talent”, we have only been watching the auditions. We are now about to watch the “Semi-Finals” where America’s real lack of skill will be on center stage. Many of these Haitians do not have that option as they face expulsion. These folks that have crawled across our border illegally are not covered by protections recently extended by the Biden administration to more than 100,000 Haitian immigrants already in the United States. Why was this ever extended to begin with? In the recent past, Haitian immigrants were granted entrance and stays due to the 2010 earthquake experienced in Haiti as well as the security concerns and civil unrest in Haiti. Once again, without much of anything that seems like a plan, the Haitian camp is being torn apart and the migrants will disappear into the country as quickly as they came. While we will see photo-opportunity flights back to Haiti deporting some, I highly doubt that we will ever know what becomes of these migrants who are being handled by the same administration that is playing catch and release with all other illegal crossings. The fact is that both the United States and Mexico are tired of poor optics and are quite eager to just make this situation disappear to end the coverage and criticism. So now that the auditions are over, we have our finalists… Al Sharpton, UNICEF, President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. While we will want to see a resolution to the problem and perhaps in how to handle the tens of thousands of migrants still heading to our southern border in caravans right now, what we will see is the firing of civil servants, lawsuits and finger pointing all in an attempt to divert the public eye away from the failure at the leadership level. We will see the prosecution of those poor bastards that rode horses through rough terrain, thorns and water to protect their country’s border as they were sworn to do. It will be suggested by many that have never stepped foot in the desert that these border agents should have walked to their destinations and merely welcomed foreigners who were crossing a United States border illegally. New protocols will be demanded that will further hinder our nation’s finest from doing their jobs as horses are taken away and I imagine ATV’s will follow. After all, you never want to have an unfair advantage in any battle situation…?!? I have looked at the footage and photos. There may have been one or two instances where, in managing the horse, the agents swung their ropes close to the migrants, but there seems to be no “roping” or “whipping” or migrants from horseback. Anyone who has aggressively ridden a horse in rough terrain could easily explain the difficulties of doing so and should be brought in to explain the photos and footage to those riding desks over 1100 miles away, but alas, it is too late. Our President said that it was “horrible” to see the way agents used horses to block people from crossing the Rio Grande and he has promised “people will pay”. Perhaps this administration needs to take a step back and stop fictionalizing the story line based on pressure from a press that wants to sensationalize every photo. Perhaps this administration needs to go back and learn about its own country and the purpose of its agencies. According to the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT the Border Patrol is an agency that is to be "focused on securing our international borders and coastal waters between ports of entry. They are also to safeguard the American people from terrorists and their weapons, drug dealers and illegal entry of undocumented non-citizens". Now let's watch together as they get brutalized and crucified for doing their job. Let’s look at what else this administration has decided to do to our judicial system. A presumption of innocence means that any defendant is assumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty. As such, a prosecutor is required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the person committed the crime if that person is to be convicted. To do so, proof must be shown for every single element of a crime. The presumption of innocence is not guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution. However, through statutes and court decisions–such as the U.S. Supreme Court case of Taylor vs. Kentucky–it has been recognized as one of the most basic requirements of a fair trial. Let’s take a look at the NEW way of doing things: "It was horrible, what you saw to see them treat people like they did," Biden told reporters. I would like to point out that Biden never SAW them do anything. "Those people will pay, there's an investigation underway now and there will be consequences. ... It's an embarrassment, but it's beyond an embarrassment — it's dangerous, it's wrong, it sends the wrong message around the world and sends the wrong message at home. It's simply not who we are." And there you have it. The new sheriff is in town and we hang you before the trial. And so comes the Semi-Finals where ignorance of law and lack of common sense will mix with politics and anger, laziness and lack of planning. It will be sickening to watch as we punish good men and women who have held their ground despite abuse, poor pay, budget cuts and lack of support for all these years to protect us as we come up with new ways to reward those that have completely ignored our laws and have climbed in our windows rather than knocking on the door. In recent years I have worked amongst refugees and migrants and my heart breaks often when I hear the stories and see the pain in the eyes of someone that has just traveled thousands of miles to get to the land of milk and honey. I feel for these people and wish them all of the success and happiness and peace the world can offer them, but as we continue this path, I wonder how many are beginning to already see that they have made an incredibly journey to a new land that is quickly becoming like their old one.
